Treasure Valley Verified

How We Verify Contractors

We are a local directory, not a licensing board. Here is exactly what we check before listing a contractor — and what we do not check. We believe honesty builds more trust than overpromising.

What We DO Check

Active phone number
We confirm the listed phone number is working and reaches the business at time of listing.
Active website
Where applicable, we confirm the business website is live and belongs to the contractor.
Public directory presence
We confirm the business appears on at least one public platform such as Google Business, Yelp, Angi, or the Better Business Bureau.
Local Treasure Valley operation
We confirm the business is locally based and actively serving the Boise metro area — not a national call center or out-of-state company.
Years in business
We note the year the business was established based on publicly available information to help you gauge experience.
Removal of bad listings
If we discover a listing has disconnected numbers, a closed business, or credible complaints, we remove it promptly.

What We Do NOT Check

State contractor licensing
We do not verify current Idaho contractor license status. Always confirm licensing independently at the Idaho Division of Building Safety at dbs.idaho.gov.
Insurance or bonding
We do not confirm whether a contractor carries current liability insurance or workers compensation. Ask the contractor directly before any work begins.
Background checks
We do not conduct criminal or background screening on contractors or their employees.
Quality of work
We do not inspect or guarantee the quality of any contractor's workmanship. We encourage you to read reviews and get multiple quotes.

Before You Hire Any Contractor

We recommend every homeowner take these steps before hiring, regardless of where you find your contractor:

1Verify their Idaho contractor license at dbs.idaho.gov
2Ask for proof of current liability insurance and workers compensation
3Get at least 2-3 written quotes before committing
4Check their Google, Yelp, or BBB reviews
5Never pay more than 10-20% upfront on large jobs
6Get all agreements in writing before work begins
